Sound Redesign

The Blacksmith video contains three main sections, a Title Card containing a Sound Logo, a Videogame Cinematic with redesigned sounds, and a Gameplay Demo featuring even more redesigned sounds. Various tools such as Pro Tools, a Zoom H5, and sound library assets were used then manipulated for this specific project. Several audio effects plugins were used to include Strymon’s Big Sky reverb, Arturia FX Collection 4, and several instruments within the Native Instruments Kontakt 7 suite. Recordings of a Pocket Operator PO-20 Arcade through an Alexander Pedals Syntax Error 2 were used for the Title Card. A Virginia thunderstorm was even recorded with the Zoom H5 to capture thunder.

Menus

Here I used different synthesis techniques and sound sources to come up with radically different menu sounds. From bleeps and bloops, to swishes and swooshes, it’s amazing what can be done with ADSR. The bulk of the work was done in Pro Tools, with implementation being done in Wwise.

Characters

Here I used different synthesis techniques, sound sources, and even recorded foley. This is a great way to showcase my creativity and versatility in sound design. The bulk of the work was done in Pro Tools, with implementation being done in Wwise.

Environment Sound Design

Ambience might be one of my favorite areas of sound design, with applications in music as well. Here I created several variations of a few specific sounds as well as layered ambient loops in order to design an immersive and believable environment. Implementation was done in Wwise.

Sci-Fi Alarm Process

This is how the alarm sound was created in the video above, with a single sound source then processed in Pro Tools. The final result was implemented in Wwise and is showcased at the end of the video.

My how far I’ve come

This is a project from my 4th class at Full Sail University out of about 32. I was tasked with designing sound effects for a short animated cartoon. It was fun, but not something I’m super proud of. From this to the Blacksmith project clearly shows my growth in sound design.
